We didn't start as an AI company. We started as a business that needed better tools — and built them ourselves.
Our founder has been solving business problems with technology for over 30 years. He started as a systems administrator at the largest bank in his region — managing networks across multiple branches, deploying computers to every location, and training staff on new systems. That's where he learned that the best technology is invisible: it solves the problem and gets out of the way.
From there, he built something bigger. He created an entire programming division from scratch — recruiting the team, setting the standards, and leading development of banking and finance software. The software handled complex legal documentation for attorneys and financial institutions. His team pioneered laser printing under Windows, developed micro-printing on laser printers, and was among the first to engineer toner cartridges capable of printing magnetic ink (MICR) for bank check scanners — technology the industry hadn't solved yet.
That programming division didn't just compete. It dominated billion-dollar companies in its markets. The team he built from nothing grew into a force that outperformed established players many times their size. The software division he founded ultimately sold for over $30 million.
He went on to work in plastic recycling, partnering with some of the largest companies in the world. Then he built a roofing business in Louisiana — storm damage, insurance restoration, multi-branch field operations. The kind of business where bad data costs real money and slow follow-up loses real customers.
That's where Practical Business AI was born. Not in a lab or a startup accelerator — in a working business that needed better tools. When morning sales meetings took two hours, we built a dashboard that does it in 30 seconds. When competitive research meant scrolling Facebook for hours, we built a scanner that does it automatically.
